BIS in Hampton Roads In Partnership with Tidewater Community College

Earn a U.Va degree without leaving Hampton Roads

The University of Virginia and Tidewater Community College (TCC) offer an adult degree completion program exclusively for current and former students of TCC. The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) is a part-time, but rigorous, undergraduate degree program with evening and weekend classes designed to meet the educational needs of the adult student.

For more information, please contact Penny Lewis at PBL5E@virginia.edu or (757) 822-7486.  Her office is located in Room 140 of the ATC building on the Virginia Beach TCC campus.

Students applying to the U.Va. BIS degree program must:

  • Have 60 semester credits of transferrable college course work (at least 15 transferrable credits from TCC) with a grade of C or better from one or more regionally accredited colleges or universities;
  • Be in good standing with a minimum 2.0 GPA from TCC;
  • Be at least four years past high school graduation;
  • Have no previous degree from a four-year institution.

Students are urged to submit their unofficial college transcripts to Kathryn Buzzoni, BIS Director of Admissions, for preliminary evaluation.  This early evaluation makes it possible for BIS staff to advise prospective applicants regarding any additional course work that might be required before being eligible to apply for admission.  Unofficial transcripts should be submitted by fax to (434) 982-5335 or by email to buzzoni@virginia.edu. If you send something by fax, please be sure to include your email address on the cover sheet.
