Thomas Jefferson: Up Close and Personal –
HIST 630-1
This course examines the personal life of
Thomas Jefferson through a variety of primary sources. Using
Jefferson’s letters, account books, and memoranda, students will
learn about the details of his daily life: the minutiae of his law
practice; accounts of his purchases; his relationships with friends,
family and slaves. The focus will be Jefferson the man rather than
Jefferson the politician and political philosopher. Note: This
class will connect with a group in Falls Church, Virginia via
digital video conferencing.
