Advising

BIS students come to the University with a wide range of professional experiences, personal backgrounds, and academic preparation. This diversity accounts for great richness in the program. However, it also presents a challenge in meeting the needs of students and providing the support needed for student success. The advising relationship between a student and a faculty advisor is key to addressing this challenge.

The advising relationship is a partnership between BIS students and their faculty advisors. Students work together with faculty advisors to build an advising relationship that becomes an important element in an overall support system that enables them to meet and surpass their educational objectives.

In order for the partnership to work, the student and the faculty advisor must understand their respective roles and responsibilities.  Learn more about the roles of the Student and Faculty Advisor in the Advising Relationship.
