National Criminal Justice Command College
An Integrated, Cutting-Edge Approach to Criminal Justice
Education
We live and work in a complex world. The demands placed on
those in the criminal justice field have grown exponentially. The leadership
and managerial skills required of today’s law enforcement supervisors and
executives would likely be incomprehensible to our predecessors in the criminal
justice community. Just as August Vollmer brought to life the first modern
criminal justice academy within an academic setting, the National Criminal
Justice Command College combines scholarly and practical experience to provide
the leaders of today with the leadership and management skills needed for the
future.
Established in July 2005, the National Criminal Justice
Command College is a partnership between the University of Virginia and the
Virginia State Police. This partnership uniquely combines scholarship with
practical experience to provide an integrated, cutting-edge approach to criminal
justice education.
Almost 60 law enforcement
supervisors and executives in corrections and corporate or private security have
attended the intensive 10-week program offered by the National Criminal Justice
Command College.
