Course Description: The principle objective of HR 403 is to prepare the student to effectively manage the social, organizational, and environmental factors that influence human behavior. It provides the student with an understanding of the structural and process aspects of organizational systems as they affect, and are affected by, groups, other organizations, and the environment. Theories and techniques of interpersonal influence, inter-group behavior, power and conflict, and leadership are discussed in the context of increasing organizational effectiveness. The organizational processes of decision-making and communication are reviewed for opportunities to improve. Finally, organizational change and development is addressed and intervention techniques for improvement and development of organizational systems are presented and practiced.
Prerequisites: HR 401 required for students in certificate prog.
