Course Description: As organizations face dramatic challenges created by global competition, technological advances, and customer demands for quality goods and services, major transformations in the role of HR are occurring. Progressive organizations expect HR to add value to the business purpose and “bottom line,” which requires a fundamental change in the roles and responsibilities of HR professionals. HR professionals are now being asked to operate in a more strategic environment, and challenged to serve more as consultants to executives and managers who are implementing change initiatives. The shift in roles will require different skills and competencies to effectively serve as internal consultants. This course will cover the role internal and external consultants play in enhancing organizational performance; the methods consultants employ in understanding organizations and contributing to greater organizational effectiveness; and the personal skills, knowledge, and attributes it takes to succeed in this challenging and exciting role.
