Algebra for Middle School Specialists

Course Description: The course is designed to extend the understanding of topics introduced in MATH 652, introduce new topics from secondary mathematics, and integrate graphing technology into the study of the algebra topics. Topics include but are not limited to variables, patterns, and functions; modeling and interpreting graphs; linear and non-linear funtions; polynomials, factoring, zeros, and intercepts; domain and range; interpreting data and line fitting; exponents and radicals. Participants will connect these concepts to the foundation concepts of middle school mathematics. Attention will be given to interpreting and assessing students' work and learning.

Prerequisites: Math 652: Functions and Algebra
