Course Description: Calculus, the mathematics of change, is a set of ideas that provides a way of viewing and analyzing the physical world. The world is full of relationships that can be described through graphs, tables, formulas, and words. Teachers in this course will understand the fundamental concepts that underlie the study of calculus such as functions and limits. From these understandings, the concepts of derivatives and integrals will be developed as well as the relationship between them as stated in the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. A graphing utility as well as other technology applications will be used to develop conceptual understanding. This course is designed to cover content outlined in the Virginia regulations for the Algebra Add-On Endorsement.
Prerequisites: MATH 662, 666, 663 or equivalent, or permission of instructor
