NCBM 006 Strategic Planning and Public Relations Campaigns
Course Description: This course will help you better understand how to prepare a strategic public relations plan for an organization or business while developing a comprehensive public relations campaign. Strategic plans are the essential component to achieving tangible results and success from any public relations initiative. This course includes important issues and specific contemporary concepts that guide the completion of an effective and influential public relations plan. The strategic planning process will help participates understand how public relations can earn greater influence and a "seat at the decision-making table." This course, by using both lecture and practical exercises, will enable the students to effectively develop a strategic public relations plan as a final project in the course. -Introduction to the essential planning components – situation, objectives, audiences, strategies, tactics, timetables, program measurement. -Define how to write a Situation Overview, identify Audiences and craft Messages. -Discussion on sources for objective research and public opinion. Discuss the ethics of persuasion. -Discuss how to apply research to the planning process. -Discussion on the development of Tactics and how they must each relate to a specific Strategy. Detailed explanation of creating a matrix for measuring results from a strategic plan and how to create a meaningful timeline. -Discussion on using a PR plan to create influence with an organization and marketing team, earning PR a seat at the table.
