Choral Masterpieces II

Course Description: Composers of choral music bring a special dimension to poetic narrative. This course continues the study of significant settings for voices, chorus and orchestra begun in “Choral Masterpieces.” We will continue to examine and listen critically to well-known as well as lesser-known masterpieces, including works from biblical sources by Bach, Duruflé, Mahler, Stravinsky and Verdi. We’ll also enjoy the images and stories narrated by Berlioz, Handel, Haydn and Vaughan William. The course is designed for both new and returning students.
