Writing Your Life: A Nonfiction Workshop

Course Description: Both beginning and experienced writers will learn how to capture their experiences and bring them to fuller expression. Through in-class and take home writing exercises, supportive feedback and provocative discussion, life writing will be explored both as a practicable goal and as a vehicle for discovery and enrichment. Topics include the basic questions in writing, using memory pegs, practicing being there, combing the past via subject hooks, cultivating our authentic voice and considering going public. Anyone interested in developing a memoir, or who uses writing for self discovery or exploration, or who has wanted to write about a meaningful personal experience but does not know where to start will benefit from this stimulating writing environment.
