Leaving a Legacy: Estate Planning Tools and Strategies

Course Description: An effective estate plan ensures that both your assets and your family are taken care of in the event of your death. This course is for those who want to gain a familiarity with the tools and strategies for creating an estate plan, no matter how large or small that estate may be and whether it is for their own situation or in the event they serve as executor for a family member or friend. Topics include the four documents everyone should have, common mistakes to avoid, the settlement process, trusts, the avoidance of taxes, the transfer of a family business, philanthropic strategies, and more. We will also examine the concept of legacy, the use of ethical wills, and strategies for maintaining and fostering family harmony in the estate settlement process.
