PSED 614J Reading and Writing for Second Language Learners
Course Description: This course is designed to give students the theoretical and practical knowledge of the development of English reading and writing skills for kindergarten through adolescent learners who are speakers of other languages. The purpose of the course is to provide students with: 1) an understanding of the literacy needs of English Language Learning (ELL) students; 2) a theoretical background on second language reading and writing processes; and 3) practice with instructional approaches that assist ELL students in becoming skilled and motivated readers and writers.
