The Education Specialist Degree in Reading Education is a post-graduate terminal degree designed for the working professional with a master’s degree who wants to add the reading specialist endorsement to his/her teaching license.  The program is a Curry School of Education degree with courses offered throughout Virginia at our regional centers. Application and admission to the Curry School is required for this endorsement.

The program requires students to complete a minimum of 30 credit hours. Upon completion of the coursework, a comprehensive exam is required. The program takes approximately three years to complete on a part-time basis, taking two courses during the academic year and two courses during the summer.  Several of the courses are offered online.
