Library Media Program
(Available at our Northern Virginia, Richmond and Roanoke Centers)
The Library Media Program, offered through the U.Va College at Wise in partnership with U.Va.’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS), is a school library endorsement program for licensed Virginia teachers.
Teachers with a valid five-year renewable Virginia teacher’s license who wish to add an endorsement as a school library media specialist are invited to apply for admission to the program. Qualified applicants are admitted to the U.Va. College at Wise Endorsement Program after review and approval of their credentials.
The Library Media Program is approved by the Virginia Department of Education and leads to endorsement in Library Media PreK-12. Students must complete up to 15 undergraduate credits from U.Va. Wise, plus an additional 12 graduate credits from U.Va SCPS.
Upon successful completion of the program requirements, the Teacher Education program administrator at U.Va. College at Wise will recommend the candidate to the Virginia Department of Education for eligibility for the PreK-12 Library Media endorsement.
