Administrator Training to Recognize & Support Quality Mathematics Teaching

Lenses on Learning: Administrators Leading Mathematics Learning Facilitator’s Institute is a VaDOE NCLB MSP Title II Part B grant of $122,000 awarded in 2006. This grant provided six days of training and materials to 25 school division teams each composed of a math supervisor and a principal. The training prepared the teams to teach the NSF validated Lenses on Learning curriculum to K-8 administrators in their school divisions. The program helps administrators learn to recognize and support mathematics instruction focused on students’ conceptual understanding of mathematics.
