Guaranteed Admission to Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies Degree Available to VCCS Graduates

Applications now being accepted for Fall 2017 admissions

December 6, 2016

The UVA School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) is proud to announce a Guaranteed Admission Agreement (GAA) with the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) for its Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree program.

Students who have completed a transferable associate’s degree from a VCCS college, with 45 or more credits earned from VCCS, and have earned a GPA in VCCS coursework of 3.5 or better, will be eligible for guaranteed admission. Those applying under the GAA must submit a letter of intent and official transcripts to Admission Services by February 15. A completed online application for admission must be submitted by May 15.

This is the second GAA between SCPS and the VCCS. In 2015, the School formalized a GAA for its Bachelor of Professional Studies in Health Sciences Management. Additionally, the University has three GAAs with VCCS: The College of Arts and Sciences, Engineering, and Nursing. The Commonwealth and the Virginia Community College System stress the usage of GAAs to provide a gateway to four-year colleges and universities.

The BIS, a degree completion program, is designed for working adults to complete a UVA undergraduate degree on a part-time basis through online, evening, and weekend classes.  Students complete concentrations in business, the liberal arts, and other professional areas.

Applications are now being accepted for Fall 2017.
