Pre-Admission Advising

We are eager for the opportunity to help you achieve your educational goals. With your success in mind, a pre-admission consultation is required prior to starting an application. To begin the process, please send us your unofficial transcripts for review.

For advising purposes, unofficial transcripts can be sent to or faxed to 434.982.5324 or mailed to:

Admission Services
UVA School of Continuing and Professional Studies
104 Midmont Lane, PO Box 400764
Charlottesville, VA 22904

Please be sure to review your unofficial transcripts for any of your personal, highly sensitive data, such as a Social Security Number (SSN). Some older university computing systems will sometimes display the SSN on transcripts.  Please remove or obscure any of this sensitive data before you send us your documents.

Once we have had a chance to review your transcripts, we will provide specific, personalized feedback regarding what will transfer and how close you are to meeting our admission requirements. If we determine that you need to complete additional course work before applying to the BIS program, we will advise you regarding course selection as you prepare to apply for admission. Our BIS Transfer Profile provides a guide to the required courses necessary for transfer. Use this guide as a worksheet to determine which of the courses you have already taken might meet the requirements, as well as those courses you still need to take to acquire the required 60 transferable credits.

Ensuring Your Readiness to Apply

Our goal is to make sure that you are academically prepared and well informed about the BIS degree program before you apply for admission. If you have not done so already, we encourage you to review the BIS Curriculum and BIS Admission Requirements. Also, consider attending an online Information Session with the BIS program’s director, or meet with one of our recruiters at events scheduled statewide.
