Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies Degree Online

The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) degree online is a degree-completion program offering a broad interdisciplinary education with online and evening classes. Choose from concentrations in business, cyber security, early childhood, health care management, individualized, information technology, and liberal arts.

Individuals transfer to UVA as third-year students and complete 60 credits at UVA to earn the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) degree online.

    On average, students take two courses per term, including the summer, and take three to four years to complete the degree. Many are able to finish sooner, or some students choose to move more slowly, taking up to seven years.

    When you enroll in an online course, you'll find support and collaboration. Our goal is to deliver an exceptional student experience wherever you are. Face-to-face classes are also available at multiple Virginia locations.   

    Students are required to attend Orientation on Grounds in Charlottesville.

  • Admission Requirements

    Individuals with a high school diploma, or equivalency, awarded at least four years prior to admission to BIS are invited to apply. They will also need 60 transferable credits to include coursework that satisfies the liberal studies core requirements.

    $25,800 in state / out of state

    Additional fees apply, including course materials. Tuition rates are adjusted annually. 
    Eligible for Active Duty Military Rate of $250 per credit hour for online courses.
