Stephen Oliver, Ed.D., M.A.

Stephen Oliver is a Human Resources Management and Leadership Development Consultant and academic professor.  His management consultancy HRCVision has led him to work with health care organizations and other industries in the Philadelphia area, New Jersey, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Florida, and other regions of the U.S.A. He has coached and trained their leaders and staff in the areas of emotional intelligence, talent management, leadership development, critical thinking, strategic planning, employee engagement, performance management, customer service, diversity in the workplace including generations at work, employee training, and organizational development.  He has also worked with sensitivity, discrimination, sexual harassment, bullying, and employee safety issues. He has facilitated in both traditional face-to-face methods and online virtual formats.   

He has worked with start-up companies to build the HR function and layout strategy for recruiting and engaging talent management. 

Stephen coaches business owners, executives, middle-level managers, front-line managers, employees, and students for many years on strategic Human Resources issues, employee relations issues, and career development and advice. Recently he has coached leaders in non-profit health services and social services to guide them in their leadership capabilities.  

Dr. Oliver also teaches Leadership and Management courses, Human Resources Management, Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace, and Personality Psychology courses at the University of Virginia Continuing Studies program (SCPS). He teaches leadership and Human Resources Management courses at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Nursing – both to MSN – Masters of Nursing and DNP – Doctorate of Nursing Practice students, and Widener University (School of Business and School of Nursing).  Dr. Oliver teaches in both in the traditional classroom environment and in the online virtual modality. Dr. Oliver loves to engage his students in the adult learning process by asking questions and challenging them in discussion and feedback.  Additionally, he teaches the SHRM CP/SCP test preparation course to Human Resources Management professionals. 

Dr. Oliver holds a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters of Arts degree in Human Resources Development from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia.  He also has a bachelor’s degree in English from West Virginia University. He has studied in the Distance Education programs at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. 

Dr, Oliver is a current national and local member of both the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and the Association for Talent Development (ATD) and has presented to local chapters about change management and diversity topics. He is a member of the Pennsylvania/Delaware/New Jersey Distance Learning Association (PADLA). 

Dr. Oliver was recently published in Chief Learning Officer Magazine and the ATD – Association for Talent Development – Chief Talent Development Officer (CTDO) magazine – in December & September 2017.  

Dr. Oliver was a recent faculty inductee as a faculty member of the May 2021 Upsilon Phi Delta Honor Society, for academic excellence in the study of healthcare management at the University of Virginia, U.S.A. 

Dr. Oliver gave several international presentations in 2020 and 2021.
