The 2018 National Criminal Justice Command College (NCJCC) kicked off on Monday, July 9 with 20 participants representing law enforcement agencies from around Virginia. In attendance are individuals from:
- Albemarle County Police Department
- Chesterfield County Police Department
- Henrico County Police Department
- Salem Police Department
- Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office
- Virginia State Police
The 10-week program, which runs through September 21, provides an innovative, cutting-edge approach to criminal justice education through a framework of leadership and collaboration with an emphasis on building long-standing relationships. Participants have the opportunity to apply for and complete either a 15-credit undergraduate or graduate certificate, or a professional noncredit certificate.
The Command College is a partnership between the University of Virginia and the Virginia State Police. The first program was held in 2005. At the conclusion of this year’s program, over 270 graduates will have completed the Command College.
