UVA Board of Visitors Approves President Ryan’s “Great and Good” Strategic Plan, SCPS Featured

UVA’s Board of Visitors unanimously approved a 10-year strategic plan founded on the aspiration to make UVA the best public university in the country by 2030.
One of the four overarching goals of A Great and Good University: The 2030 Plan is to make UVA “synonymous with service.” The School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) will help lead an effort to offer accessible and affordable education programs to those beyond Grounds, with a focus on working adults.
“We want to partner with the state of Virginia, other colleges and universities, and the business community, to help Virginia be the best-educated state,” says SCPS Dean Alex Hernandez. “Building ladders of opportunity for working adults is central to reaching the Commonwealth’s goals.”
SCPS helps working adults complete their bachelor’s degrees and advance in their careers through certificates and other professional programs.
According to UVAToday, President Ryan says “the plan’s title reflects his belief that, in the future, universities will only be able to achieve true greatness by living their values and by adopting a broader view of their responsibility to employees, neighbors and society.”
