Flexibility

Adult learners demand flexibility.  At SCPS, we continually respond to our learners by delivering University of Virginia programs and courses that address the needs of individuals looking to continue their education. 

Our degree and certificate programs are ideal for those looking to complete a program on a part-time basis, through late afternoon, evening, weekend, and online classes. Several of these University of Virginia programs are offered not only in Charlottesville, but are also available at our academic centers located across Virginia.

Our courses for personal enrichment or professional development are available during the day and evening, and include one-day workshops, short courses, lectures, and opportunities to travel.

Hundreds of classes are offered every semester.

Many of the classes in our certificate and degree programs are open for registration, without having to formally apply for admission to the program. Restrictions may apply, including the number of credits transferrable should you decide to apply to the certificate or degree.

Select on-Grounds classes are open for registration as a Community Scholar.  

Many noncredit classes are offered during the day and evening for those seeking professional development or personal enrichment.

Travel & Learn

Civil Rights: In the Footsteps of the Movement

Join Julian Bond's bus route through Civil Rights history. Visit the sites and hear from those whose courage helped define the American South. Gain a unique window into the unmatched music, art, food, literature, and community traditions that make up the vibrant Black culture of today’s South.

The program will begin in Atlanta, GA and will conclude in Memphis, TN.

The week-long program is scheduled for March 10-16, 2012.
