Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies
The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) program makes it possible for working adults to complete a degree from the University of Virginia on a part-time basis through evening and online classes. The degree completion program offers a broad interdisciplinary education with a variety of concentrations, including a concentration in the Liberal Arts.
Bachelor in Healthcare Management
The Bachelor of Professional Studies in Health Sciences Management (BPHM) prepares students with technical backgrounds in emergency medical services, health information management, medical laboratory technology, occupational therapy assistant, physical therapy assistant, radiography, respiratory therapy, and sonography to assume managerial and leadership roles in the healthcare system.
Master of Public Safety
(Coming soon). This new graduate degree program is designed for public safety leaders from local, state, and federal agencies, including professionals in law enforcement, private security, public health, corrections, fire and emergency medical services, emergency management, and the military.

BACHELOR OF INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES

Stephen is an associate professor in BIS, and also serves as the program director. He has been teaching courses on U.S. cultural history since 2006, and, in addition to his work as an instructor, strives to increase access and flexibility at UVA to help adult learners reach their academic goals. Under his leadership, students are now able to complete the BIS degree entirely online.
