The new Center for Public Safety and Justice, part of UVA’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies, builds on the school’s long-standing public safety initiatives. Those include the Master of Public Safety degree program as well as partnerships with the FBI National Academy and the National Criminal Justice Command College.
Tori (SCPS ’13) and Ben Hobgood's recent gift, which established the Hobgood Bicentennial Scholars Fund, will support students pursuing their education in the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, and is the first endowed undergraduate scholarship in the school’s history.

Living their dream of being a writer, SCPS Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies student, Dan Rice, is publishing a second book. Inspired by the colloquial phrase, “I know it like the back of my hand,” Rice’s creative memoir, “The Back of My Hand,” is an exploration into identity and how well we really know ourselves. While blurring the lines between poetry, prose, and poetic prose, the text weaves together mental health, coming out and spirituality.
Anne Duckworth returned to school through SCPS after leaving college to raise her family, and now she is enrolled in the UVA School of Education and Human Development’s one-year online master’s degree in curriculum and instruction program.
