Visiting Students

Individuals who want to enroll in SCPS classes without being admitted to one of the School’s degree or certificate programs are considered Visiting Students. 

Becoming a New Visiting Student

Create an Account at the Application Management Portal

• Go to the Application Management Portal.
• Under First Time Users, click Create an Account.
• On the Register page, provide your first name, last name, email, and date of birth.
• Once you submit the form, a temporary PIN will be sent to your email so you can log into your account.
• After you log in, follow the guidelines to change your password. Once your password is changed, you can begin completing the Visiting Student Form.
• Click on Start a New Application, choose Visiting Student Form.
• The Visiting Student Form has five sections: biographical, contact, academic, professional, and Honor Code, as well as Virginia residency for in-state tuition.
• Submit the Visiting Student Form.
• Once the form has been processed you will receive an email with next steps on activating your student account and student email. 

Please note: UVA employees will not receive the email instructions. Individuals who have taken courses previously at UVA also will not receive the email instructions.   

Effective August 10, 2026, submitting the Visiting Student Form will require proof of identity through our contracted partner, Stripe. After you create your application, you will receive an email with instructions for completing the identity verification process. As part of this process, you will be asked to upload a photo of yourself and a valid government-issued identification document. Returning Visiting Students

Returning visiting students may be able to register using their Student Center in the Student Information System (SIS), if they were enrolled in classes during the previous fall, spring, or summer terms. You can find step-by-step registration instructions below. If you are a previous SCPS student but were not enrolled in classes during one of the last three semesters then you will need to complete a visiting student form to reactivate your student account.  

Returning Active Students who can use their Student Center in SIS include: 

• Returning students registering for classes in the following subjects: ACCT, BUS, SEC, HR, IT, PC, and those course subjects beginning with NC and PS.  

Returning Students who cannot use their Student Center in SIS include: 

• Returning Community Scholars. Please see the Community Scholars page for more information. 
• Returning Senior Citizens wishing to use the Senior Waiver, please see the "Senior Citizens" section. 

Senior Citizens

Returning Community Scholars and Senior Citizen Community Scholar students. Please see the Community Scholars page for more information on how to register.  

• Returning Senior Citizens wishing to use the Senior Waiver to cover the tuition for SCPS certificate and degree classes, please submit a Senior Waiver Registration form. We begin processing Senior Waiver request two weeks before classes begin but have the right to postpone enrollment just prior to the first day of class to give priority to tuition-paying students.  See below for more information on using the Senior Waiver to cover tuition charges.
• In compliance with the Senior Citizens Higher Education Act, the University offers classes with tuition and certain fees waived for persons 60 years of age and older, who have been legally domiciled in Virginia for at least one year. Tuition-paying students are given priority. A senior citizen shall only be admitted to a class, tuition-free, after all tuition paying students have been accommodated.
• The tuition-free privilege cannot be retroactively exercised after payment has been received. Some program-specific fees may apply and cannot be waived.
